Whatever happened to  all of the heros ? .........All the .......Shakespearos ?

 

So sang the Guildford Stranglers later known as just the Stranglers back in 1979.......The Jam......The { Guildford }

Stranglers.......The Vapors......Three top examples of the new wave/punk phenomenon all hailed from the same area. It is this appreciation of their home towns golden age that kicked off the Shakespearos , a love of the bands from that time and of  the music they later inspired other musicians to create. All members of the Shakespearos originate from the Guildford area and have worked together musically for many years.

 

Steve Smith : Bass and BVs.  Member of The Vapors. Toured the UK with The Jam and then THE WORLD on the back of their unforgettable hit Turning Japanese. Steve then moved into sound engineering working with the likes of Lush, Loop and Fad Gadget as well as resident engineer at venues such as The Barfly.The Orange and The Clapham Grand. Steve also toured extensively with The Beautiful People which is where the rest of the band originate

 

Du Kane : Voice and occasional strummer. Former frontman of The Beautiful People best known for their Hendrix sampling cult creation "If 6os were 90s ". an album which spawned 2 top five dance hits in the USA and a personal invitation from Noel Gallagher to open for Oasis on their autumn tour of 1994. Du Kane was also contributing editor for Front magazine for three years andd as well as singing for The Shakespearos runs session recording outfit Replicant

 

Dave Maskrey : Guitar.

Former Beautiful People guitarist and well known illusionist. Dave is also a programmer and session guitarist for replicant Music

 

All memebers share a love of The Clash, Gen X, Ruts, Happy Mondays, Stone Roses, Oasis, Pistols, Primal Scream and all music that encompasses that spirit whatever decade. A desire to play these fantastic songs as close to the original recordings as possible results in a fantastic live show. An eclectic mix performed with passion, fire and affection. The Shakespearos
